Take a look at the 13th-century Reims Cathedral: its incredible pointed arches and enormous stained-glass windows. It's pure Gothic! In contrast, the Romanesque Leaning Tower of Pisa, begun in 1173, is striking in its monumentality and compact openings.
Let's travel back to 15th-century Italy – Brunelleschi's dome of Florence's Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, a symbol of the Renaissance. Then, to 17th-century France: the Baroque of the Palace of Versailles, with its gold, mirrors, and dramatic forms.
