Ten historic customs buildings: Dublin, Sydney, Brisbane, Newcastle in New South Wales, Shanghai, Barcelona Port Customs, Dogana da Mar in Venice, Salem, Charleston and Valparaiso. This selection is not an age or size ranking. Dublin Custom House was restored after fire; the Australian buildings changed over time. Shanghai is shown in an archival July 1994 photograph. Barcelona shows the port customs building, not the earlier customs palace. Venice's former maritime customs complex was later adapted into an art museum. Salem's surviving building should not be dated to the founding of the earlier customs service. In Charleston the Civil War interrupted construction and the proposed dome was omitted; its photograph dates from June 1991. Archival photographs do not establish current visiting conditions.
