Historic stone aqueducts: PontduGard, Segovia, LesFerreres in Tarragona, LosMilagros in Merida, AguasLivres in Lisbon, Roquefavour, Vanvitelli near Caserta, Valens in Istanbul, Morelia and PadreTembleque’s Tepeyahualco arcade. A selection from different periods, not a ranking by age, height or length. Segovia’s main granite arcade uses no bonding mortar. LosMilagros survives only in part. AguasLivres and Carolino are eighteenth-century works, and Roquefavour is nineteenth-century; they are not presented as Roman monuments. The modern railway bridge behind Roquefavour is not the scene’s subject. The Valens photograph description differs from the ministry’s dating, so narration states only the fourth century. The PadreTembleque photograph description differs from UNESCO’s dates, so only the sixteenth century is stated and its world-record claim is not repeated. Morelia was reconstructed.
