Historic British pleasure piers: Clevedon, Brighton Palace, Eastbourne, Hastings, Cromer, Saltburn, Llandudno, Garth in Welsh Bangor, Penarth and Southend. An architectural and engineering selection, not a worldwide ranking of age or length. Brighton Palace is separate from the ruined West Pier. Eastbourne was widened and rebuilt. Hastings appears with its restored deck and new pavilions in2016following the2010fire, not unchanged Victorian buildings. Cromer has later rebuilt entrance kiosks; storms shortened Saltburn. Garth stands in Wales, not the similarly named Northern Irish town. Penarth’s later pavilion is partly shown; its deck and supports remain the main subject. Accounts differ on exact Penarth opening dates, so narration states only the period. The Southend file is described as autumn2007, but its Date field contains2013and does not establish the capture date. Other photographs date from2008-2019.
