Ten historic baths and bathhouses: the Roman Baths in Bath, the Baths of Caracalla and Diocletian in Rome, Trier Imperial Baths, Antonine Baths in Carthage, Friedrichsbad in Baden-Baden, Rudas and Gellert Baths in Budapest, the former Bayezid II Hammam in Istanbul and Hammam al-Basha in Acre old city. This selection is not an age or size ranking. Trier baths were never completed; Carthage shows surviving lower rooms. Friedrichsbad dates from the nineteenth century. The Rudas exterior includes later extensions. The Gellert hall photograph dates from June 1996. Bayezid II Hammam is shown as a museum; figures in Acre belong to its museum display. Archival photographs do not establish current visiting conditions. All photographs carry stated open licenses.
